It is bit cryptic and I guess this stands for
X$ ( something un known??) K Kernel Layers? S Services Layer P Parameter PI (INstance) Parameter
It is exposed to you as V$ parameter view.
As everyone said the current authority for these tables is Steve Adams and he has plenty of insights to share. Check him on http://www.ixora.com.au or Oracle8i Internal Services from Oreilly.
