Viraj,

Forget SCO. You don't have to install on SCO. Deploy 8.1.7 on a 2.2.18 Kernel on glibc 2.1.
Ask Jared.
Spend some time on Metalink examining the product lifecycle for Oracle on SCO.
SuSE 7.0 will work just fine. RedHat 6.2 is okay also.

there's a list for Linux on Oracle at ORACLE-LINUX-L_at_fatcity.com:

to: ListGuru_at_fatcity.com
in the message BODY, include a line containing: SUB ORACLE-LINUX-L

There's also a SuSE-Oracle List:

To subscribe, e-mail: suse-oracle-subscribe_at_suse.com For additional commands, e-mail: suse-oracle-help_at_suse.com

SuSE has a relatively large amout of documentation at:

hth,

Paul
