Ahh yes..
The sinclair ZX80,ZX81.. that's where I started, but the jewell was
the
ATARI 400/800/st/various other aliases as the years went by.
I started with a 400 (with the funny keyboard), then accquired an 800 with more memory (32M?) and proper keyboard. I still say those machines were way ahead of their time when they were introduced. I think I had about 50 x 5 1/4" disks with 'multiboot', to have approx 5 games on each side (I too used the neat square holepunch to use 2nd side). Now that's a lot of games! Used it for BASIC during my school exams , plus learning 6502, plus controlling motorised robots via the I/O ports (yes, the joystick ports).
A good site for old Spectrum games:

Also old kids programs ,all from an English perspective but many are U.S.
made.

I used to have a Spectrum +2? One of the little keyboards with rubber keys and a tape drive! Still have it in the loft at my parents with all the original games too! Damn how I used to love sitting in front of a screen blinking red/blue/green colours at me, screaming like a drowning cat while it was loading.
I must dig that out for a nostalgia trip! LOL.. Although I am more of a die hard fan of high tech games though!! Quake, Half Life (Counterstrike)..
