Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Re: How to break into DBA/Systems work without going brokedoing
Wow. Another former Alpha 4 user. The first db I built was on dBase IV right after it was released. After I worked with that for awhile as developer and dba, I learned what the r in rdbms meant when the requirements changed causing a bunch of formulas to need extensive rewrite. Soon after that I built a true relational database in Alpha 4 for a small home based business (my dad's) and then wham-O 10 years later, here I am a "real" dba.
So it's easy to get into dba'ing <grin>

After looking it over with one of my former students who is an IT director, he hired me the next day. So just learn to teach diving and WHAMO! 13 years later you're an Oracle DBA!
