Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> changing the datbase server name and IP number
We are setting up a new database server. It's HP-UX 11.0. Oracle 7.3.4 (I know, we need to upgrade !) has already been installed and configured on it. Databases have been built and are in use for testing. In a couple of weeks, we'll be exporting the production database from our old server and importing it to the new machine. Sometime during this process, we'd like to rename the new machine to have the same name as our old production server. At the same time, the IP number will be changed. The goal is to make the new production machine have the same name and IP number as the old production machine. Since Oracle has already been installed on the new server, and it already has test databases on it, what will need to change Oracle-wise when the host machine name and IP number change ?
Thanks for any information you can share!
