8i release 2 has a concept of session temporary tables. By why that? We have solved a similar problems since Oracle 7 days by adding two columns to a pseudo-temp table. This table is permanent but the data is temporary. All data in the table can be identified by the userid and sess_seq columns. Every time you need to use the table, you fetch a sess_seq number from a oracle sequence. Use the data and delete the information just before exiting. This allows to cleanly divide the datasets while using the same table.

Once a week, we truncate these pseudo-temp tables.
