Did anybody explain you the path of a BDBAFH (DBA version of BOFH)?

U guys really give me inspiration and motivation to go ahead and learn
things .
I decided to learn everything i could about Oracle ( mainly from these
lists ) and simultaniously epand my Java experience .
I think it's a good path !

thats bullshit. If you are a good dba then you should know where to sell your skills. Big organisations still rely on Oracle and will. Oracle aint gonna die so fast.

is an wayward extrapolation and not yet a reality. We all know the limitations of Sqlserver etc. FOr enterprise use, Oracle is still the best.

thats true. Oracle will always improve the interface.
and it did. from SQl*dba to OEM, it has improved a lot
(point and click) but still you do need human
intervention a lot. Human decision is still human
decision and you should know it better. DBAs are
always going to be in demand. You could say.. people
might need lesser.. but then what do just have to do
is become one of the best. Keep updating your skills.

Hmm... guess you should try out the marketable skills. working on production databases, high-availability implementations, partitioning, datawarehousing, replication, parallel server (now replaced with (9i clusters) blah blah blah

So my friend, there is a lot to learn and work upon. You could even consider becoming an apps dba rather being an plain oracle dba. It pays a lot more and you have to believe me there. 11i is HOTTTT man.
