Windows XP Availability
Windows XP will be made available in two versions: Windows XP Professional for business users and Windows XP Home Edition for home users. The second beta version of Windows XP is scheduled for release in the next month to a select group of Microsoft customers, partners and beta testers. The final version of Windows XP is scheduled to be generally available in the second half of 2001. ...

I'm not sure if there is any reason, besides the superficial ones relating to the appearances (or marketing?) of "business" vs. "home" functionality, to think that Windows2000 Pro -> XP "Pro", and WinME-> XP "Home Edition".
In other words, does MS intend to restrict upgrades to XP Pro from Windows2000 Pro (and/or NT4), or will they "let" users upgrade to XP Pro from Win98/SE/ME?
Also note that on MS' web site, they are *still* referring to the next version of Windows 2000 server as "Whistler", not "XP Server".
If I feel brave later, I'll call MS "800" phone number as ask the marketing droids.
regards,
