Hi,

I was quoted ?15,000 plus yearly support for tuning pack + diag pack. This was for 2 DBA seats but I think they based it on UPUs since they checked my platform and CPU figures. Anyway It was too expensive for my site.

You would think that Oralce would price the product low to encourage easier database tuning and maintenance, which would improve product performance and image.

As far as I am aware, the pricing for OEM is per seat, so whoever uses the product will have to be licensed.
Also remember that base OEM is free.

That is not what they told us (starts to be very tricy)! It seems, that for the OEM, licence is based on the number of users. Since we have only few DBA. we thought (at the begining of the story) that this shouldn't cost so much money. Soon we discovered it is not so. Who is right (now this licencing things start to be VERY complex)?

Oracle has prices for this product based not on users (at least server part - OMS) but on power units.
