I don't think that the experts are telling anyone that Mad Cow Disease is not transferrable to humans. It causes death in humans and cannot be killed by cooking at normal temperature.
Hoof and Mouth disease is not transferrable to humans and should not be confused with the common human affliction Foot in Mouth disease.
It is the former that may destroy the livestock industry in Europe and lead to turning lots of folks into vegetarians.
We raise our own beef so I am not going to turn into a vegetarian.
