Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> smon Q?
Hi All,
Last night we were trying to bring down one of our databases with Shutdown
immediate.
We waited about 20 minutes before we finally did an abort.
We found this entry in the alert log "Waiting for smon to disable tx recovery." before the shutdown abort entry. It looks like this was the cause for our wait. Does anybody know what this means? (The database was restarted succesfully in case you're wondering)
Oracle 8.0.5.0.0
AIX 4.3.2
A unix cronjob was running to compute statistics at the time we tried to
shutdown the database.
TIA Met vriendelijke groet,
Jacob van Zanen
