One other point, If you manually delete this file the DB will crash. To some good degree it totally disappears in 8i.

No removal is required. It is generated as a result of your database and goes away when you shutdown database. Oracle uses this file in it dbstart script to check
whether database is up or not.

I don't know How this file generated by database, What is significance of this file?? Can I delete this file??? Is there any use ???
