Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Buffer Gets
A buffer get is simply an I/O request that didn't need to access the disk directly because the required buffer was still in memory.

My understanding of a buffer get is a request for data from a data buffer
(ex. DB_BLOCK_BUFFER) therefore showing an approximate amount of CPU
resources used, as every time a request to a buffer is sent it takes a CPU
cycle.

Hi All
Could someone explain to me what is a buffer get.
I find Logical reads, Consistent gets, Physical Reads and have the impression that the combination of the first two is buffer gets but can't find evidence for it
Anybody?
Met vriendelijke groet,
Jacob van Zanen
