The issue with a lot of these ways of monitoring indexes that are not used is that there *could* be indexes in place that are soley there for something like a year/month end report.. And you just might not catch that when monitoring for a couple of months, drop the index, and get stung muchos when your user fires off that all damaging report..

I do know there is a way to tell which indexes are accessed most recently by
query x$bh view. Is this what you want or something different? Sorry I

Hi, Why not to use otrace? Of cource, you may need some space to savetrace results, but you'll definitely get complete statistics.

We have a purchased application with over 1,300 indexes.
Can someone suggest a method to monitor the system to determine which indexes are actively being used over time? I'm assuming that some are old/not necessary and would like to save the overhead of maintaining them.
