What, if any, value is there in doing Unix Volume Group backups of volumes= that contain Oracle databases?
This is a db that is supposed to be 7x24, but a Unix sys admin insists that= we MUST do a volume backup, "because that's what we always do". Twice a= month, we shutdown the "7x24" database for 3-5 hours so they can do this= backup.
