Hi Rajendra,
I'm using a tool called TextPad (www.textpad.com) thru which you can select, cut & paste the file vertically and horizontly. It works pretty well for me and i'm using it on NT.
Give it a shot, it's free.
Navneet.

Subject: OT: Vertically splicing the file
Friends,
I get a data file, for certain (it is vendor supplied) reasons, the line width is way too much (> 20K/line) and typically about 1176 columns. Yes Yes it is really true.
Is there a tool or script that can be used to split the file vertically? Say I need first 100 columns in one file, next 100 in another and so on? All the data is comma delimited and strings are enclosed in double quotes.
It would be very beneficial to have a tool on NT platform, but if none is available, I can go for a UNIX based tool.
Thanks in advance
Raj
