Subject: Server 8i & AIX
Greetings, all. Let me begin by apologizing for not lurking before posting, but I need some info ASAP. To compound matters, I'm not even a DBA; I'm a mainframe (VSE) systems programmer, drafted into the AIX sys admin corps. I've been assigned to assist our DBA with upgrading our RS/6000 7012-G30 and 7013-J30 so that we may in turn upgrade Oracle Server from 7.3.4 to 8i and Oracle Apps from 10.7 to 11i.
Some specific questions:
Does Server 8i (for AIX) require a 64-bit machine?
Does Apps 11i (for AIX) require a 64-bit machine?
Are there any other specific minimum/recommended hardware requirements for
the above?
Is there an Oracle FAQ so that I won't have to bother you with such basic
questions anymore?
Thanks in advance.
