Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> Looking for good Oracle 8 books
Hello all,
I am embarking into the New World of Oracle 8i. I have been an Oracle developer, mostly 7.x for about 5 years now, but I am transitioning to more of a DBA role using 8.x and 8i. I have done some dba type work like hot backup scripting and recovery procedures, but still have my eyes glass over when faced with simpler tasks like establishing user privileges and roles and such.
I am looking for books will help me better understand the key functions of a dba managing multiple 8.x databases. I am especially interested in something that will help me with creating new databases including the proper sizing of datafiles, tablespaces, and such.
I know there are a number of resources out there. I am just hoping to find a couple that stand out from the crowd a bit.
Thanks in advance,
Steve McClure
