Hi Gang,
If you run the command:
SQL> show parameters
as system. In the output you should see a record that looks something like this:
NAME TYPE VALUE ------------------------------------ ------- ------------------------------ ifile file /ptcmetde/pfile/configPTCMETDE.oraThis is the init file the database ACTUALLY read during startup. HTH,

I've read several answers mentioning the dbs directory or other OS directories to check for the init file.
How do you tell which init file was used to start the database when "startup pfile=" is used?
