Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: inserting BLOBS? Is it even possible?
[sigh] Never mind. Figured it out. Jeez, I think my brain conspires to only
give me the answer *after* I've asked for help, just so I can look like an
idiot as publicly as possible.
I should note that there really isn't an example of this. I had to infer it from an offhand reference in one sentence on the section on raw and long raw types.
For the record (in case I'm not the only one in the entire universe who didn't know this), the proper syntax is:
insert into SOMETABLE (BLOB_FIELD) values ('736d6f6f6f7368');
Grrrr.

stages of "open" on my desk. I'm trying to find out how to insert or update
a BLOB field in a table using just plain generic SQL. The SQL Reference
implies that this is possible, but nowhere in any of the manuals does it
actually show the syntax for doing so. Is it possible to do something
equivalent to:
>
>insert into SOMETABLE (BLOB_FIELD) values ('smooosh');

>(This doesn't work. I've tried it.)
