Um, I don't think Alex has a problem with simple Oracle questions. I think he's getting frustrated with questions like:

And simple questions come in two forms -- questions with a one-sentence answer, like "convert your date to internal before comparing it", and the open-ended question, like -- "I've been told to install Oracle. Please tell me how".

I don't want to trash anyone, and I don't want to become a casualty du flame-war (my asbestos britches are at the cleaners), but there *is* a charter to this group, even if unwritten and informal, and if the signal-to-noise ratio gets too low, the gods and demi-gods will eventually leave. Wouldn't be the first time. To see the results, join list-portslave. Couple of times a day, there'll be a plaintive question posted. And no response except the wind howling down the canyon.

Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas
are any good,
you'll have to ram them down people's throats.
