If I the security data is used to determine what the application can do by
user...
You could add another table(s) that store detailed user information. The
application, after connecting to the database, could access the table(s) with
the user name (user) and retrieve the detailed security data. The application
would then be responsible for implementing the security.
If I the security data is used to determine what the data user can select etc... You could use views or if you are using 8i Enterprise Server use fine-grained access control.

Dear DBAs,
I am working on an application and designing the security. I want to use the existing Oracle security (user ID, password) without maintain or create additional tables (if really possible). However, I need additional information that will describe user's authority (i.e. user level 1 can do a certain transaction while user level 2 can not).
Does anybody know what practise to do this?
