Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: OT: RE: how to create new user for the newly created databse.
Hi ,
My name is Sam Roberts - Oracle DBA (previously DB2) working in Middle East.
I used to read this List about 2-3 years ago and learn a bit - Ive just re
registered and either my knowledge is extremely more than it was back then
or the questions have just got easier ( bit of both I guess) - but there is
a real danger of people claiming to be DBA's who are totally not qualified (
see Gartner reports ), but what to do.
Anyhow , I'm studying my Masters and for my dissertation I'm looking for extremely badly written SQL ,especially out of ERP packages like SAP,ORACLE FINANCIALS, MAXIMO etc... also, I'm sure you DBA'S have come across many cowboy programmers who would have provided you with some real howlers to optimize.I certainly have and I could share.
If anybody can pass on any gems, I would be extremely grateful.
I will also recognize you in my paper,
Thanks and I hope some people out there share my sense of humor on this one
Sam Roberts

Well, sometimes the high-level dbas can get so distracted with all the high-level stuff that they tend to get "rusty" with some of the basics...a good refresher every now and then doesn't hurt. :)

Dear Alex
U R right
Yes ! this list was once for medium range to high range DBAs
Now it is reduced to dontknowwheretostartdba.com
I appreciate Diana, Lisa, Malladi, Jarred for their patience
As U said some might leave this list as they can't afford to waste their time going through basics
