Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Opinion: RMAN vs Veritas
AFAIK
Veritas has two products for Oracle; an agent that
links rman with Netbackup and their 'Database
edition for Oracle' that'e bundled with Veritas QIO, VXFS
and Volume Manager as well as Veritas own 'BLI'
(block level incremental) solution that uses the
VXFS snapshot capability with Netbackup. I've got the 'Database
Edition' but have not implemented Veritas BLI solution
as it hasn't been necessary yet - we're skating by
on shell scripts as DB's aren't big enough to
require incremental solutions. IMHO, NO Veritas
products are 'easy' to implement, and their licensing
policies (Three days to get a 'key'!) are restrictive
at best, impossible in emergencies. Look into BMC SQL
Back-Track and Legato for an 'easier' path than either
rman OR Veritas.
