If this is on Unix,
I would do the following:

1. Take a good backup(cold and export). Preserve archives. Just in case
2. Shutdown database and listener.
3. Blow the $ORACLE_HOME.
4. Install 8.1.6 by setting proper env etc.
5. Rerun the catalog scripts.
6. Restart the database
7. Check everything.

IMPORTANT: If ur system is Prod, test the strategy in a test env and evaluate the results first
HTH
Happy New year .. and Happy new century.

Greetings,
I am looking at the possibility of doing an 8.1.5 to 8.1.6 migration "under the gun".
Does anyone have tips or things to avoid or any other helpful suggestions?
