I've done voluntary work in the past, but that time is over, now it's you want/need me afterhour you pay me.

Like Rachel said, the company will survive without you.

A solution is to have kids, DBA with kids usually leave earlier (I'm not saying kids are less work !)

Small shops, with only 1 or 2 dbas, usually abused them. In big shops, things are more straight : overtime pay, someone to replace you, day team/night team,....
