There is no rollback on DROP either. Please check for number of extents of
such tables , if it is having a lot of small extents like 200/300 it takes
longer for both truncate and drop of tables.

Larry,
It's because of the rollback, probably.
It would be quicker to truncate the tables
first and then drop them after they have
been truncated. There is no rollback
on truncate.
