Help: Table creation is taking a long time

Hi,

   create table is taking a very long time, like 10 to 20 seconds. Its a big database(say 10gb) in oltp environment. even drop table take 10+ seconds. Iam facing this problem for the firt time and need some suggestions on how to proceed. I appreciate your inputs,
