What we need is a DBA simulator...a virtual reality cubicle where you are
constantly berated and harassed by AI managers and developers while you are
trying to fix their problems via your virtual workstation. To add realism,
we could make it a 3-5 day simulation where it has one of the virtual
managers call you at 3 in the morning jumping up and down screaming, "The
database is broke! The database is broke!" Of course, the programmer,
system and network AIs will randomly spread the blame between the database
and the others...and after determining that it isn't a database problem,
they'll insist that you stay up and "watch the database and give them a full
report"--just to be sure. It could have the dual purpose of better testing
the extent of someone's capabilities and scaring away the meek all in one
fell swoop. :)

In case one wants to be a 'GOOD' DBA...
No FreeOCP.
There should not be any training material for OCP other than test outline given by Oracle.
That makes you work hard and study deeper.
I even do not appreciate studying from so called STSware tests from the results what I have heard. I went through the sample test to get used to the real exam. But some say that if one goes through 100 Q set for each paper then its easy to pass. I am not doing OCP just to pass the exam. I want to learn the untouched parts of Oracle.
I also have heard similar remarks about ILT material and there seems to be
a lot of trading going on eBay. If reading (or cramming) that (100 or 200
pages)
is going to take you through exam then that's bad.
Okay, I agree passing is a criteria but one must go through thousands of text thoroughly to understand Oracle better and then he or she might go thru these so called passing gizmos for final touch. But 'exam oriented passing material' would lead to PaperOCPs....
I WOULD NOT SUPPORT THE IDEA OF FREEOCP BECAUSE IT WOULD HELP TO COME OUT MORE PAPEROCPs....
PLEASE DONOT MAKE OCP A JOKE.
ORACLE CORPORATION... PLEASE MAKE OCP BIT DIFFICULT AND MORE INTERACTIVE AND
MORE NEAR TO REAL LIFE SCENARIOS. Do not let just people pass with your ILT
material or STSware material.
(I am yet to complete my OCP so I am not shouting this after completing
OCP.)
One last question....
Is there any Oracle DBA Certification which is better than OCP?
Thanks and Regards,
-Rahul
