At my old job we use to use a local standby schema that copied the archive =
logs from the hot to standby server and apply them as they were generated. =
When the active server failed the redo logs were also copied to the =
standby and the server restarted to bring the database up to date using =
the copied redo logs. Worked great and was faster than the Oracle method =
of copy, verify before update tagged as complete. Is you do a proper =
shutdown and switching logs before shutdown and copy your archive logs =
during backup you have no need to copy the redo logs.

Hi everyone,
Is there a need to backup Redo Log Files, if so, how should they be backed up and how often?
Thanks
Larry
