<html><head></head><body>Sometimes Oracle is just unbelievable... I opened
a tar over a week ago because our ncomp'd benchmark classes have been very
slow. They claim that the slowdown lies in some serious inefficiencies with
their memory manager. They also went on to say that Java code that has little
or no memory allocations, etc. would primarily benefit from ncomping. <br>
<br>
I feel that this is a ridiculous statement. When you consider that 99% of
the Java classes out there 1> allocate temporary local variables/classes
when you invoke methods, 2> allocate additional stack space when you pass
arguments to methods. Does anyone have any additional thoughts on this?<br>
<br>
So basically, I guess they're telling me that ncomp is of no use to anyone
in the real world. At any rate, I'll get those numbers to everyone as soon
as we can figure out the best way to proceed from here. <br>

In sqlplus either of the following will work...
show parameter db_block_size select value from v$parameter where name = 'db_block_size';
