There a few other options that I know of -
BMC's Patrol - www.bmc.com Look for the Oracle Knowledge Module or they now
have Web DBA? An HTML based tool..
DBGeneral - www.bradmark.com Look for the Enterprise Monitoring Module, now
rebadging under the name NORAD!
Platinum/CA have one but the name slips my coffee deprived mind - www.ca.com
If you have the cash, my bet would be on Precise. As mentioned in the previous post, this tool doesn't fire SQL to the database to collect it's statistics, therefore has no actual impact on the Oracle instance. They have managed to map the memory structure of the SGA to collect statistics that way. This then means they can collect stats on a sub second interval. They can also collect these stats for a playback to diagnose a performance problem say - yesterday at 2:00pm. Of course there is an overhead on the system, but even that is minimal I believe. As I said though it can be quite costly.
With all of these tools though, they all have slightly different functionalities. If you could share a little more about your monitoring needs - What you would like to gain from a tool - as in alerting, corrective actions, monitoring system stats, Oracle events that you monitor already that may be implemented in to a tool etc. I can try to give a bit more input into what the tools can provide.

Precise, OEMed through EMC is the only monitoring process integrated with the SYMAPI which is the only thing that allows you to see exactly what is going on in the EMC array. Precise also gets its stats by reading the SGA rather than by executing SQL which means you can sample at a higher rate without affecting the statistics you are trying to measure.
Allan
We are looking at Precise (Pulse) and Quest (I/Watch) as remote monitoring clients for Oracle db.
Any thoughts or experiences with either product, or a product that we may not have looked at, other than OEM v2?
