Hi Folks,
I'm considering setting up a dedicated server to house DB monitoring software, not yet selected, for all our Oracle DBs. In addition I'm considering using it to host RMAN to have a central point for backups of the DBs. We are, for our sins(?), an NT shop. We will shortly have a SAN installed, so disk space for repositories should not be an issue. There will also be, I'm told, an adequate tape unit with stacker etc. installed to make tape backups from SAN. So I'd appreciate any advice/comments you seasoned DBAs may have on this "plan" and also if possible what specifictions for the server I should be getting to realise this plan. If the plan "sucks", and no NT jibes pleez, what altenatives might I consider?.
Sean :)
