Ad-Hoc you can say that query on random basis or you can say that building
and runing the query
as required e.g. at some particular instance you need 5 column from a jion
of 2 tables, with some
WHERE clasue ....

i am reading Oracle Discoverer handbook and see a word "ad hoc query". but i don't know the exact meaning of this, nor can i find the meaning in dictionary. i am a non-native english speaker, and hope the list can explain it to me.
