RE: Metalink Performance Optimization :))I'm in Kansas, Toto, and never = get timeout errors from Metalink USA, UK or Singapore. Perhaps you have network problems?
I discovered the same thing. I am in the states (California), but I = use Singapor server because I have a much better performance and I don't = get the "time out error".

Optimization :))=20
Dear gurus !=20
=20
For those of U who use Metalink :=20
=20
When U go to the home page <http://metalink.oracle.com> , U are =
prompted for the server U want to use :=20
USA , Europe or Pacific Asia .=20
=20
Now , i've discovered that it's fastest to use not "your" server .=20
For example , if U are in Europe , it's faster to use the USA server =
than the European one .=20
Why ?=20
I guess that it's because of the time difference .=20
When it's midday in Europe , it's a night time in the USA , so U are =
almost the only user of the USA server -> U get the best performance ! =
:))=20
=20
I spent some time comparing the response times ( while being in the =
Europe , the USA and Australia ) and it's always faster to use the =
server of the region where it's the middle of the night now .
=20
Just FYI .=20
