This is not quite what you asked for, but I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that our experiences with Hitachi disk midrange systems were less than favorable.

I don't know the model # of the system we tested. The platform was Sun E series servers running Solaris 2.6 and Veritas vfs filesystems.

While the Hitachi system was very fast, our SA experienced reliability problems even after microcode updates.

Whatever system you lean towards, you should be allowed a trial period with it so that the SA and DBA can put it through it's paces and try to break it.
