Unable to connect client in 8i

Hi,


     We have installed Oracle 8i on Windows NT and are able to connect to
database from server. The TNSPING utility from clients is also connecting
to the database but we are not able to connect via sqlplus. Is there any
special configuration/parameter needed for the same. Please suggest?
