No. If the 8i Standby is in read-only mode, logs are TRANSFERRED to the standby, but not APPLIED.

Please don't use Shareplex. It's extremely *slow*, it has a terrible conflict resolution handler (it doesn't *have* any... you even have to create your own "delete conflict" handler. <grin>), it also has a nasty bug where you can easily loose data consistency if the source database simply shuts down while the source shareplex processes are still transferring data to the target (A semi-ridiculous problem when you consider that Shareplex reads redo logs. :)). And besides, how much additional enhancement do you think the product will receive once 9i ships with the same capabilities?
