Hi Cherie,
Coalescing a tablespace only combines extents that are next to each other
that have no data blocks in them. In other words, if you have 2 100k
extents that are empty and next to each other, after coalescing, you now
have 1 200k free extent. This is free space defragmenting. Data
defragmenting involves reorging the tablespace.
