If you are running Oracle 8i, you might want to check out the STATSPACK package and its functionality. It is the replacement for utlbstat/estat and provides significantly more relevant information. For more information about STATSPACK visit the Oracle Technology Network at
http://technet.oracle.com/deploy/performance and the documentation that is supplied with Oracle release 8.1.6 – statspack.doc. This file is also located in the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin directory.
