Question about RMAN:
Yesterday I was testing datafile recovery using RMAN. I ran an RMAN script
that restored a datafile, then recovered by applying redo logs. The restore
was pretty short (<1hr, file was ~100Mb), the recover took forever (5 hrs).
I am planning on putting several tablespaces in read only mode, and my
question is: does RMAN know not to apply redo logs to read only tablespaces
(assuming it was read only at the last full backup)? is it possible to leave
out the recover step in the RMAN script so that file is just restored?
Any comments welcome. I am trying to learn the ins and outs of RMAN so I'm prepared when something really happens...
Thanks.
