I guess my experience is different from yours. I went to a catholic school, and we discussed evolution, catastrophism, and creation. In any case, *many* of not most concepts in school are presented as "here it is. accept it.". Evolution happens to be a bit of a hot button.

[ahem]. If true, that would be bad. However, the cases I've heard about (which admittedly are much closer to my home than yours) involved teachers with a Creationist bent who were *extremely* biased, and verbal about it. Please note, that presenting the issue as Evolution vs Christian Creationism is no improvement. There are dozens if not hundreds of religions, each with their own version of creation. If you are truly objective, you will give all of them equal time. I have yet to meet or hear of anyone who wanted "alternatives to evolution" taught, who advocated anything except Genesis.

Below are a couple of links describing observed inter-species changes. This list is by no means exhaustive. The claim that there are no examples of speciation is an old and tired creationist Big Lie.

Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas
are any good,
you'll have to ram them down people's throats.
