RELY option in constraint.

Hi,

What does the rely option do for a constraint?

If I have an FK as disable novalidate. So that query rewrite can take place. I wonder what rely can do in addition to this? All what I want is the data dictionary to contain info about the contraint. so that querys can use it. If disable novalidate already does it, What is the need of rely option.?
