"...Sun Support told them it cannot be done...."
Incorrect and Absolutely amazing. This, from the company that "put the dot in dot com".
The more I hear about and experience Sun support, the more I want to get away from it.
Anyways...it depends whether you are using hw raid, sw volument mgmt, or some combination thereof.
To find out how physical disks are sliced up and allocated to subdisks/slices/partitions, use rm6 ( Raid Manager 6 ). To determine how subdisks are grouped into LUNs, Volumes and attached to mount points, drill into either Disktool or the Veritas volume manager ( this latter via vxprint -list, for example ) to tie hw info to sw volumes, etc.
hope this helps a bit, sorry about Sun
support!
A client needs to see which files are on which disks. Solaris 2.6. Sun Support told them it cannot be done. I was pretty sure I saw something like this on AIX or HP-UX.
Anyone done this?
Thanks,
Earl
