Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Datafiles on NFS mount
I asked this question to Oracle last year, they told me that they do =
not
support datafiles on NFS mounts, even if you set NFS to use TCP instead =
of
UDP.
They do support NFS mounts from a handful of vendors, but the =
technician
told me it was really expensive.
Also, none of the names on the list of "approved" vendors had names I
recognized - no SUN, no HP, no Compaq, in fact none of the NFS that =
come
with a version of UNIX are approved by Oracle.
We wanted to store our exports on NFS mounts, generally we didn't have =
any
problems, but as Joe mentioned, one day you restore while the network =
is
busy, or the export is done while the network is busy, and... oops why =
is
the export file bad.
It's better to buy more local disk, if you want to store Oracle files.
