I've done small databases like this (instructional labs, etc.), and there is no strictly technical reason that it won't "work". If you do not have performance and/or recovery requirements that make it necessary to use the usual/safe "industrial strength" methods, just go ahead and set up a test system to see if you get acceptable performance.

If you *really* want to become a member of the unwashed rabble and live on the hedge, just install the default database, and extend the systm tablespace to hold everything. :)
