Yes Global_name is true. What is the down side of setting it to false?

Hello,
What is your error message.
Have you set Global_nane to true ?
I have rep between 7.3 and 8.1.X and it works.
Best Regards

I am trying to create a database link from and Oracle8i database to an Oracle 7.3.4 database. I am having trouble with the global names. Our sids are just sid names, no domain name. How do I get around this?
