ps -ef |grep _sidname |wc -l will give me the number of oracle background
processes.
You can also find out other daemon processes such as LISTENER, dbsnmp ...
Then, do a little math to get the number of application user connections.

That would give me all oracle processes plus some non-oracle processes.

I would like to know how to verify the number of database connections there are currently.
I tried v$session and look at the output from lsnrctl services.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
Regards.
