I've got a datafile that was offlined automatically about 3 months ago and I never knew about it until the other day. I don't have the archived logs going back far enough to recover the datafile. Does anyone know of a way to get it back online apart from paying Oracle a $10,000 ransom to come on site and run their utility? The data in the tablespace hasn't been updated and if I can somehow extract it, I can recreate and reload the one table that's in the affected tablespace.
I've tried creating a clone database with just the system tablespace and the one in question to no avail. When I run "recover database until cancel" and cancel it immediately, it says that the recovery was succesful but that an "alter database open resetlogs" would produce an error on the system tablespace, which of course it does. The error is that the system datafile requires further recovery.
Any ideas?
