Vignette Problems?

Anyone else using Vignette experiencing problems with defunct processes?

The defuncts multiply until there are a few thousand of them, and the box runs out
processes in the process table, causing Vignette to die. This is the Vignette
CMS, and it appears that the ctlds (delivery system) is requesting new connections
to the database, depending on the load, but doesn't maintain them all the time.
If one times out or is failing, it spawns another to handle the request, queuing up
a whole bunch of processes trying to connect to the database.
